I had my Windows Vista Installed on my Dell Inspiron since I had it, Let’s Say more than 12 months and I never re-installed Vista because I have lots of work to do and there’s no time to backup all my work and files that I need .
But this month, just before few days of releasing the final windows 7, I’ve Installed an evalutaion copy of Ultimate .
System Requirements
You can check Microsoft Website to know the minimal requirements for Installing Windows 7
Installation
A Clean Install was amazing and pretty easy that anyone with no experience can install Windows 7 . It didn’t take more than 25 minutes to install Windows 7 . Inserting the product key is the last step before start using your new windows 7 .
Desktop
I’m not saying something new, But I should talk a little about Windows 7 Desktop and What’s the new features you may find . At First You have kinda new look to the taskbar . You just get Icons with No Text ( You can get text next to icons back ) . Almost All Applications give you a jump list with what to do with this application which will help you alot with applications like Firefox, Chrome, iTunes, Winamp .
Managing Desktop Background, Themes is much easier than before. Being able to Have Multiple Backgrounds that slides one after one is a very cool feature to make your desktop more beautiful than before .
Windows 7 allows you to be able to change how login screen looks like which could be done before with hacking windows files .
User Access Control
This could be the most annoying thing we ever experienced in Windows Vista . Almost every single thing asks you for a permission to do it. Well In Seven, It’s easier to do what you want and UAC won’t annoy you like before. So Far I got asked for permissions just while Installing a new program .
Built-in Applications
Windows 7 offers some built-in applications like Windows Media Center, Xp Mode in Windows 7 which is a great tool that wasn’t available in vista, New Improved Calculator, Wordpad that supports .docx extension for Microsoft Office 2007 Word Files .
Review
Although 80% of Windows 7 is the same windows as any OS should be, those new changes would make some different and replace the bad idea that windows vista caused it in the past few years .
System is a bit faster than vista and can handle more processes but It can eat your hardware resources of CPU Usage and Memory but this can be handled with a bit optimizations for applications itself .
